Robert Beasley Shortt is the youngest son to Dr. Robert and Carolyn Beasley Shortt. He is affectionately called “Robbie.” Pastor Shortt is a graduate of Lander University and majored in Health Care Management and Clemson University with a Master’s in Real Estate Development. He also continued theological studies at Anderson University in Anderson, IN. In the community, Robbie serves in several capacities and organizations. Robbie was ordained in August 2016, and his home church is the Evening Light Church of God in Laurens, SC under the Pastoral Leadership of Elder Isaac V. Cropp Jr. and the former pastor Rev. Dr. Delpherd Barksdale. Pastor Shortt served as a campus minister and bible study teacher while being mentored under the Pastoral Leadership of Rev. Robbie Davis of the Celebration Church of God in Columbia, MD.
Pastor Shortt was elected as pastor for First Church of God Lee Street in December 2017 and was installed in March 2018. Pastor Shortt believes it is vital for today’s church to be spiritually grounded in order to make an impact in the community. Pastor Shortt’s most inspirational scripture is Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Robbie is married to the former Tammy C. Stuckey. He has one brother and 3 sisters-in-law and 5 beautiful nieces whom he adores. He is also the great-grandson of the Late Rev. Dr. Doyle Lee Sherman. Robbie’s Love for God and people were values that were instilled in him at an early age by his Grandfather and Grandmother the Late C.D. and Lucinda Sherman Beasley.
